Products from Tanzania
Avocados grown by small-scale farmers in Tanzania are produced in a much more environmentally friendly manner than conventional avocados. Avocado trees need lots of water and the production requires a lot of irrigation, which can take a toll on the environment. Frank’s avocados are grown in a region in Tanzania naturally rich in rainfalls, which means there has been no or very limited artificial irrigation.
From the bees on Frank’s farm, we have the most amazing honey. The honey is fluid and dark in colour. It has a beautiful rich flavour because these happy bees have been able to feast on the flowers of chilis, avocados and pumpkin.
Pumpkin seeds from Franks farm. These seeds are so unique in taste and colour. They are crisp and full of seed oil. They are perfect as they are for toppings or texture and taste in food production.
We are especially proud of our organic certified cashew nuts.
Our cashew nuts are of the highest quality, crispy with a mild, creamy taste. The cashews are grown by almost 1000 small-scale farmers.
The farmers supply the cashews to our partner in Dar Es Salaam, and then peeled, pack, and shipped.
We focus on the well-being of the staff and guarantee that no employees are exposed to the toxic acid in the cashew's shell.
The coconut oil is pressed by the coconut flavoured meat. BoaVida is collaborating with Jane Albert, an entrepreneurial Tanzanian woman who manually makes all the coconut oil. The coconut meat is taken out of the shell, dried, then the oil is squeezed out using a simple press machine.
The result is a smooth, tasty virgin oil.
The oil has been approved for both food and cosmetics.
Highlands Organic's chilli is organic-certified and passed all the quality tests in Denmark. Being Organic, the chilli is cultivated without using any synthetic chemicals and pesticides and, instead, substitutes them with organic manure and biofertilizers.
